Kids Crafts Involving the Disney Gang

Most kids just love the Disney Gang. They enjoy seeing their favorite characters, such as Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, and Goofy, get into all sorts of hilarious situations. Because of this, it is only natural that your children would want to do things that are related to these cartoon characters. Thats why you should do crafts with them that involve the Disney Gang. This will not only be fun for them because you are incorporating their favorite characters into what they are doing, but it is also great because they are getting to be imaginative and creative.

One thing that a lot of children love to do is draw. You can let them draw their own Disney Gang characters if you get some paper and coloring utensils. These could be coloring crayons, colored pencils, finger paints, or watercolors. Its good to have multiple options so that they can mix the media as well. They can also make their own Disney Gang characters by cutting out shapes with construction paper and scissors. If your kids are fairly young, you could cut out the shapes for them and then they could assemble the pieces however they please.

Some children like to pretend to be their favorite characters. Because of this, you and your children could make masks so that they can do this. All you need to do is create the heads of the characters like how you did with drawing their whole bodies. They, affix a stretchy string to either side of the paper and it can be worn as a mask.

Book marks can be made, just for fun or to give as presents to friends or family. They can be created by recycling of old greeting cards, cut book mark shaped pieces of old maps, punch a hole near one end (a hole punch makes a neat job) than wire short lengths of colored wool or Ribbon through the hole to make a brush. You can also cut the book marks clear card and then decorate it with acrylic paint and glitter.

Building miniature gardens is always entertaining; You can an old drawer or a strong shallow cardboard for the root of the garden and all types of found object for the plants. Twigs from the garden will make small trees, green felt can be used to impersonate a lawn a small mirror makes an excellent pond. Modeling of clay can be used to planters and even flowers. The only limit is the imagination.

A favorite holiday is the good old snowman built using the cardboard tube of a toilet roll covered with cotton wool for the body with a ball of cotton wool for his head. His hat can be made of the card and his arms of small twigs. Glitter can be used for his eyes and nose.

Decorating pine cones is fun they can be painted and embellished with all kinds of glitter and beads from broken jewelry. When they are decorated they can be used to make cell phones, use wire to hang them lengths of wire cut from old clothes hangers.

Mobile phones can easily be made so many objects, old spoons and other specifications of garage sales, or shapes of map cut and painted, such as fish or animal shapes that can be painted and decorated with glitter.

How about a good old fashioned kite? Paper, string, glue and some garden sticks can be quite a lot of fun in making the kite than later more fun when flying. Try making kites about six inches long miniature for something else.

Day of the Dead dinner party

My friends Heather and Matt host a Day of the Dead dinner party each year and this year, since they were expecting nearly 30 family and friends to attend, Heather asked me to help her out with place settings. I immediately knew that I wanted to do something that would enhance the vibrant colors and tradition of this Mexican holiday, so I came up with simple Mexican paper flowers, and to make it even easier, I had all the supplies needed to make them.

All you need are three things: tissue paper in bright colors, scissors, and a stapler:

Theres a super easy and quick tutorial on how to make these over on 100 Layer Cake, but since I was making these as place settings, I had to keep them small, so mine didnt come out looking quite as fancy. I assembled all the flowers at once, mostly because its a lot easier to get the accordion style folds done and out of the way, since pulling the tissue paper apart is the funnest aspect:
Then, I carefully pulled each of them apart (be especially careful if you make small flowers because the tissue paper is very vulnerable at the center) and affixed each flower with a name tag:
The dinner party was a huge success: the food was out of this world (Heather and Matt spend days prepping the enchiladas, beans, and rice), the decorations were incredible, and the place settings were a hit!

Hopefully, youve read the first part of the Beading for Beginners and you know what type of beads and wire or nylon fishing line to use for different animals. You will learn here how to make the body of the bead animals.

The main animal beading technique is the Back and Forth technique. Its hard to believe that this is the main technique, because it is so simple. Okay, everything is slower and a small bit more difficulty if you want to do it nicely. However, after you have tried and made it a few times it will be just childs play.

Use this technique to make the body of the bead animals (and sometimes the tail of the animals). After youve finished the first row, make the second row by doing the same thing again. In this way, make the rest of the animals body.

Lets get started!

String the beads (usually one, two or three depending on what you are making) on either side of the wire. If youre beginning a new bead animal string the bead(s) on the center of the wire.
Now, loop back with the opposite wire through the beads. If youre making the first row, then thread one wire around and through the first bead(s)

Pull it very tightly. If it is not in the right place (not exactly beside the row before), then bend it until it looks even and lovely.

Now, here is an important point:

if you are making an animal that should be flat, then push the rows beside each other (and use wire). However, if your animal supposed to be round (3D), pull each row very tightly to make them overlap. If it doesnt help, then simply put the rows right opposite of each other. After that, if you look at your animal from side, then the rows should look zigzagging.

One more thing: do not forget the eyes or any patterns of the animal, use different colors for them.

If you dont understand something click here for additional help with pictures for each steps.

The next part will explain how to make your animal more lifelike with legs.

Online flea market

Ok, so flea market is stretching it a bit, but Three Potato Four is an online store that showcases some seriously amazing stuff. A lot of it is antique and vintage, so the price tags can be pretty hefty, but there are so many things that I want to buy RIGHT NOW! Click on the image to shop that item online.

Im a little obsessed with old doors and converting them into amazeballs coffee tables, shelves, or using as standalone with a super sassy mirror affixed to the top portion where the open window is.

And how great would this look in your backyard beer garden?

This King Kong coin bank is from the 1960s. Fill it with coins and then use it as a book end.

This farm table is nearly identical to one I found at Todd Farms flea market this past summer, and we used it as the gift table at a bridal shower.

These photo clip stands would work perfectly as labels of food stations at a party.

Halloween Crafts For the Kids

Kids love making crafts, so take the time to look around and find some easy Halloween crafts for kids. Crafting does not have to be difficult, and you can make easy Halloween crafts for kids with a little imagination, creativity, and some common household items. There is nothing more fun for kids than to decorate your home with Halloween decorations that they have made themselves. They will feel pride in what they have created and have fun doing it. Here are a couple easy Halloween crafts for kids that you may want to try.

We LOVE fun foam that can be purchased at craft stores or department stores. Buy several sheets in colors of orange, black, green, and white. Cut out some ovals and circles from various colors. Look on the Internet for Halloween images that you can print to your personal printer. Try to find witches, bats, skeletons, and black cats. You may have to reduce these images to fit onto your base. If you are especially good at drawing, you can even try to draw your own! Cut these images out of contrasting fun foam colors and glue onto the shapes you have cut out. Punch a hole in the top, draw a string through the hole and then hang these fun ornaments anywhere you can think of!

Easy Halloween crafts for kids can even be crafts that are adapted from more difficult crafts. Want to have scary ghosts hanging from your trees? Take an ordinary plastic bag you get from the grocery store and cut off the handles. Place a Styrofoam ball in the top for the head and secure with a rubber band. Then shred the bottom into strips and poke a hole above the head to insert a string for hanging. Dont forget to draw on a scary face! For extra fun, attach a bell or two to the bottom of the strips so you can hear your ghost "singing" in the wind.

Finally, one of the most easy Halloween crafts for kids might be the most fun. Buy a few dark colored candles black preferably and provide your child with various trinkets like sequins, candy corn, fun foam shapes, or whatever you can think of. Have them glue these trinkets on the outside of the candle and you have a great Halloween decoration for your home!

Easy Halloween crafts for kids are great ways to get kids interested in crafts and instill a sense of pride as visitors marvel over your great decorations.

They can proudly say, "I made that!"
