• Heavy leather gloves and long sleeve shirt – Putting up fencing is not easy. It is very likely that you will need a pair of good gloves to protect your hands. You will also want to consider wearing a long sleeve shirt not only for sun protection but also to protect your skin from scratches. The cut ends of fence wire are very sharp. Even with good gloves you are likely to get a few scratches.

• Claw Hammer - Get a good claw hammer. Buy one that is light enough for you to use but heavy enough to get the job done.

• Wire Cutters – This is essential and must be of good quality. Do not skimp here.

• Round nose Shovel – You will need a decent round nosed shovel but almost any will do to dig

• Flat nose shovel- You will need a decent one to mix materials

• Post Hole Digger - The old fashioned clam-shell diggers. Look for one that is heavy. Some of them on the market today are lightweight and just will not do the job.

• Crimping Tool – Again buy quality as you will find a thousand and one uses for this tool. It is a must have for repairing fences.

• Fence Tensioner if you are putting up any kind of wire fence
